Wearing Safety Around Our Necks -The New Lanyard Policy

With the new safety precautions Village has been taking recently, students and teachers are now required to wear their school lanyards and IDs around their necks all day, a change from the first semester of the school year. With this new lanyard policy, upon seeing students without their IDs on, teachers will be required to give referrals.

The IDs not only allow students and staff to enter buildings on campus, but they serve as a safety precaution too. With hundreds of students, staff, and visitors entering and exiting school all day, it is important to identify who is authorized to be within the school walls and who is not. The lanyards increase visual security on campus, making it easy to quickly identify who belongs on campus and who does not, and, in turn, helping identify any possible threats to the school. Furthermore, these lanyards can help first responders identify a student in case of an emergency. While having to wear your lanyard can often seem like a burden, its purpose is simply to improve the safety of our Vikings.
