On Thursday, January 30, 2020, The Village School’s tennis team hosted their first tournament on home grounds, and ended up winning the whole competition! Competing against students from Lutheran South Academy and Cristo Rey Jesuit, sophomore Ismeal Chona Rueda and freshman Alexander Ilacqua won the boys B doubles bracket, and freshman Melania Shen successfully won girls’ A singles along with winning girls’ B doubles with her teammate sophomore Zoe Nguyen.

“Our team is really good this year,” said sophomore Tommy Wan, who plays boys A doubles for Village. “After this tournament, I really was able to see all of us become closer as a team, and see the talent that we have this year.”

With a great start to the season, the Village tennis team is ready to continue playing in hopes for more successful tournaments!
