Leaving our school with a warm farewell, The Village School Elite Spirit Dance Team attended the State TAPPS 2018-2019 Dance Championships at Belton High School in Belton, Texas on Saturday, January 12th 2018. This was the team’s first year competing in a state competition after winning TAPPS Regionals last year.

The team placed 6th after competing against several familiar schools, including The Awty

International School and St. Pius High School, as well some other unfamiliar schools from around the state. Juniors Kim Chemeryk and Claire Tanifuji were awarded First Team All-State and Second Team All-State respectively, and sophomore Salomé Boivin was nominated for All-State Honorable Mention.

“It was so different for us because it was a state competition,” Boivin said. “We all had very mixed emotions as we were really excited to go out there, give it our all, and just have fun, but we were also very stressed and scared as we were competing against other teams. We did our best and had so much fun when being on the stage, which is all that mattered.”
