Fall semester exams begin
As semester one draws to a close, students have been preparing themselves for the midterms that begin tomorrow, December 12, and end December 21. These exams, worth twenty percent of one’s final grade, test a student’s growth in knowledge over the first semester.
Last year, due to Hurricane Harvey altering academic scheduling, midterms were cancelled, so for current sophomores, this will be the first midterm exams of their high school career.
“Last year felt unfinished because when we got let off for Winter Break we were done without having to take midterms,” sophomore, Xing Chng, said. “Now it’s like we still have some distance to go; there’s more of a break.”
For all those who have been feeling overwhelmed lately, Dean of Students, Jennifer Thomas would like to remind them to take a deep breath and think about how relaxing the upcoming break is going to be.
“I can’t believe how quickly this semester has come to an end, but I feel confident that all of you will do your best. Remember that all of you are capable students!” Thomas said. “I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a great Winter Break.”
The high school schedule has been revised for the exam weeks, and students are not required to come to school unless they have a scheduled exam. The midterms exam schedule and room assignments can be found online. For people who take the bus, transportation schedules will remain the same and have not been altered to accommodate exams.
