NBA 2K26, released on Sept. 5, 2025, might be one of the biggest games of 2025. 2K26 is arguably one of the best 2K games since 2K22 due to the major improvements to the game. Aimed for die-hard basketball fans, players, and most gamers are into the game.
Now, of course, 2K26 has some negatives. 2K26 is a basketball game where you can shoot, dribble, or play defense with mainly NBA and WNBA players. There are different game modes you can play from MyTeam, where you draft NBA players and create a team, and MyCareer, where you create a build and play with people worldwide. Now, the main one is to play now, where you can play online or just offline with friends at home with up to four people.
There are some big improvements to 2K26. Animations are smoother, jumpshots are easier to green, and ball handles look more realistic, something we have all been awaiting. The MyCareer city and fans feel more alive; the city is also smaller, making it easier to get to places. Courts are more realistic, really popping with detail, giving a variety of options to be able to play in high school, Europe, and the NBA draft, where you don’t choose the team you get drafted to, making this so much more interesting.
Looking at it, it’s one of the sharpest published by 2K yet. Everything looks and feels smoother, making the game experience more enjoyable.
The WNBA continues, and 2K gives us expanded game modes. With long awaited upgrades, expectations were high because people didn’t feel like 2K25 was worthy of buying. Basically, what 2K did was look at everything everyone hated in 2K25 and upgrade it to make everything easier to do.
Fans who love to grind through seasons and career modes will probably love grinding this game. Casual players who love competitive-online play may find problems when trying to connect or play against friends. Since these problems of having menus that are full, it is harder to play defence because of builds that need to be patched, and crossplay is complicated when trying to play with friends.
Overall, I would give the game a solid 3 out of 5 because there have been complaints of people quitting after the first two weeks of the game, trying to find other games. I would recommend this game to any gamer who loves to try out new sports games.
