Massive Victory at Soccer State Championship

Boy’s Varsity Soccer team poses for a picture after their victory against Nolan Catholic.

On Tuesday, March 8, 202, the Boy’s Varsity Soccer team took on Nolan Catholic in Round Rock Texas. Led by their outstanding manager Mansoor Ansari, the Village boys became the TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) state champions. The Vikings had a hard-fought campaign this season with only a handful of losses. To get to the finals, they had to defeat Antonian College Prep in the semifinals, as well as Central Catholic High School at regionals. In the finals, the Vikings ultimately defeated Nolan Catholic 2-0, with striker Elliot Gregoire (12) and central defensive midfielder Charlie Johnston (11) each bagging a goal. Additionally, the Vikings kept a clean sheet with goalkeeper Max Kerkvliet (11) conceding no goals.

“Despite being state champions, our season wasn’t perfect,” said junior Sebastian Lozano, who plays as a central attacking midfielder on the team. “We went through a lot of hardship and challenges, but the team staying together like a family is what helped us go all the way. Shout out to Mr. Ansari!”

Despite the hardships they faced, the Vikings performed exceptionally well this season.
