From Friday, December 6 to Sunday, December 8, 2019, seven students from The Village Speech & Debate team attended The University of Texas Longhorn Classic. This tournament, held on the UT Austin campus, is highly competitive, with participants from across the state coming to participate in both speech and debate events. 

“It was a good learning experience because I had access to capable judges, and a good pool of competition,” freshman Regina Blenda, a competitor at the tournament, said. “And that helped me advance in [my] event.”

After two days of intense competition, senior Aditya Iyer broke into elimination rounds for Lincoln-Douglas Debate with a record of four wins and two losses. Iyer reached double octo-finals, ranking 28th out of 155 competitors.
