The film White Tiger, directed by Ramin Bahrani, is rated R (restricted for those under 17). There are going to be some spoilers in this article. Read at your own risk.

The 2021 film White Tiger tells us the life story of Munna, or boy in Hindi, which is what everyone in his village calls him – his real name, however, is revealed to be “Ashok Sharma.” He is named Balram, or White Tiger, by his teacher for showing a high sense of intelligence at a young age. Throughout his life, Balram dreams of becoming a successful businessman. In the movie he talks about the story of his life – the people he has met, the events he has endured, and the people he hurt to escape a life of poverty in his village of Laxmangarh. Balram says that everything that he did to get himself where he is now was worth even the darkest moments of his life. Balram continues to say that he also plans to live his life in India on his own terms with no help from anyone, as a very independent individual. Later in the movie he plans on visiting Chinese official Premier Jiabao, who has come to India to learn about entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs in the nation. Ashok plans on not letting this opportunity slide away and will do everything he can for his business to grow.

The actors in White Tiger did a very good job with their parts. I think they chose the right people to play the parts. When it comes to playing a part well, an actor needs to become that character and gain a sense of their personality and lifestyle throughout the whole movie. An example of this would be Priyanka Chopra, who plays as Pinky Madam, the wife of Ashok Rao. Her personality in the movie is that of a sweet and loving woman, until an event occurs that makes her realize that she is with the wrong family, so she leaves and gives Balram money for himself.

My overall opinion of White Tiger is that it is definitely a movie worth watching. It tells the life of a poor man becoming a successful entrepreneur, and can also encourage viewers to become not what people want them to be, but who they actually want to be.

No one has the ability to have total control over someone – only you can decide who you want to be in life. You were brought into this life, and you have to finish it on your own terms.
