On the morning of Sept. 26, 2025, The Village School senior class gathered together at Viking Stadium to celebrate a longstanding annual tradition: Senior Sunrise. As the sun rose above the Houston horizon, students shared blankets, laughter and superlatives, marking the beginning of their final year as Vikings.

Senior superlatives are arguably one of the most memorable moments of senior year. At The Village School, superlatives are announced at Senior Sunrise by crowning each selected student with a paper crown. Some notable titles include Best Hair, Couple That Should Have Been, Life of the Party, Beauty and Brains and many others that capture the unique personalities that comprise the class of 2026. The Student Government organized this memorable event, and Senior Class Representative Maria Antunes announced each superlative, followed by cheers and plenty of photos.

“We put a lot of time and effort into this event to make sure every student had the best experience possible!” Antunes said. This event celebrated individuality and the long-lasting memories this group has created together.
Once the superlatives were announced and pictures were taken, The Village School’s food service, SAGE Dining, provided students with a hearty breakfast, including tacos and coffee to recharge the seniors for the day ahead. The event concluded, and teachers came to the field to greet their seniors.
“I loved seeing my favorite teachers come at the end, it was sweet that they wanted to be a part of the event,”senior Salma Ortega said. Blankets were folded, crowns were put away, and Senior Sunrise had concluded. “We want our class to look back on their high school experience and not remember this sunrise as an event, but as a bonding moment,” Antunes said.
