As the heat cranks up and final exams of the semester are just around the corner, summer break is closer than ever for The Village School students. To help power through the agonizingly long weeks of April and May, hit play on these 10 songs for a boost of summer serotonin.

If you are looking for a song that feels like a day at the beach, this is the song for you! This Flipturn track is full of guitar strums and warm breezes. Hit play and let this rock-indie tune relax you all the way into the last days of school.
“Afterglow” – The Driver Era
This song is for sunny afternoons and evenings driving with the windows down and no cares in the world. This track has a mellow vibe in comparison to the punkier songs The Driver Era usually puts out. Transport yourself to Cabo for 3 minutes and 11 seconds and forget about the daunting upcoming assignments you have.
“Sun Tan” – Wallows
A chill anthem that encapsulates skipping school and sunbathing with your best friends all wrapped in a punk-indie 3 minutes and 46 seconds. This perfectly captures the feeling of being carefree and soaking in the sun on a day of relaxation, not toiling away at responsibilities. “Sun Tan” comes as a call to revel in the now.
“Malibu 1992 “- COIN
This song will have you daydreaming about shopping days in Malibu with the sun shining on your skin. The retro synths transport you to love and wild adventures. This tune sweeps you away to the sunset-hued glows of summer evenings.
“Way With Words” – Bahamas
Clever wordplay and sleek guitar make this Bahamas track a perfect summer tune. Play this to shed study stress and just vibe. This mellow rhythm will relax you immediately and make you soak up any sunshine peeking through the mountain of semester review packets.
“Sedate Me” – Virgin Suicide
This dreamy tune wraps up a late night with a calm soundtrack to finish up a long summer night. This song takes listeners to a peaceful place to silent the loud moments. Kick your feet up and press play.
“Sunshine” – Steve Lacy
Bouncy, happy, and upbeat, Sunshine has it all! This song can not be heard without smiling ear to ear whether you’re strolling down the street or writing an essay as the last English class assignment. The upbeat melodies and energetic rhythms transform the most mundane of mornings into energetic adventures.
“What Was That” – Lorde
This melo-dramatic superstar released this single of the summer on April 24, 2025. This is an atmospheric, euphoric song that is great to listen to in a daydream of beach waves. A perfect accompaniment to peaceful late night walks.
“Fun” – Sun Room
This distorted vintage-feeling track will send you back to the late summer afternoons that were literally filled with ‘fun’. Sun Room is infamous for their celebration anthems filled with all the summer vibes you need to push through your canvas calendar. Don’t let responsibilities hinder the joy of life and press play!
“A Life Where We Work Out” – Flatland Cavalry and Kaitlin Butts
This dichotomous story telling melody of a song is the perfect tune to play if you’re having a yearning summer. Flatland Cavalry perfectly wraps up the turmoil of being freshly broken up but still holding onto what could’ve been. The despondent message mixed with the melodic country tune makes this the perfect end-of-summer song.
