On February 26th, 2025, The Student World Affairs Council at The Village School sent three teams to WorldQuest, a team competition event that tests students on various parts of the world. Across the country, 3000 students come to 50 different local competitions. Each local competition sends a team of three or four people to the National Competition in Washington DC. The World Affairs Council of Greater Houston held the local competition at Daikin Park (formally known as Minute Maid park).
Students compete over international politics, geography, global economies, history, and cultures. This year there are 10 topics, them being The United States and Foreign Languages, Space and NationalSecurity, Nontradional Approaches to Foreign Policy, Music and Globalization, Indigenous Peacebuilding, Critical Minerals in Africa, Borders and Boundaries, Mexico: 2025 Focus Country, Great Decisions and Sports Diplomacy. Each of these topics have articles that students must read and remember as they’re tested over details like events, statistics and policies. While the format may change from year to year, this WorldQuest had a multiple choice question presented on a projector. Students would then discuss with their team and mark their answers on an answer sheet.

With over 60 teams competing, this year was the largest competition Houston Academic WorldQuest has seen. The first place team from Carnegie Vanguard High School had a total of 79 points out of 90. While none of the teams from The Village School made it to the podium, everyone team studied and worked diligently and garnered good scores.
year to year, this WorldQuest had a multiple choice question presented on a projector. Students would then discuss with their team and mark their answers on an answer sheet.
