Empowering the Next Generation: Ishanvi (Ice) Venkatesh hosts her 8th annual fundraiser that supports girls’ education! The fundraiser is an ice-skating event created to support and raise funds for girls’ education. Through this special event, participants enjoyed a fun family activity while contributing to a meaningful cause. Ishanvi (Ice) Venkatesh, freshman, and founder of the non-profit Lemonade with Ice, hosts her 8th annual Girls’ Education Fundraiser at the Galleria Ice Rink on October 20th.
Lemonade with Ice is committed to giving every girl a fair chance to get a quality education and achieve her dreams, no matter her background. For everyone, educational equality means ensuring that girls can learn without facing limits or stereotypes that hold them back. They work hard to improve education standards and provide resources to help girls succeed.
STEM education in science, technology, engineering, and math is essential in today’s world, yet girls are often discouraged from entering these fields due to societal expectations. By introducing girls to STEM subjects, this organization gives them skills and opportunities that are important for their futures. Lemonade with Ice’s programs and partnerships focus on providing girls with hands-on learning, mentorship, and access to resources, helping them explore and excel in these fields.
Lemonade with Ice also fights gender inequality, works to prevent child marriage, and helps protect girls from violence. They believe every girl should have a safe place to learn, free from fear or discrimination. For girls facing conflict, poverty, or other challenges, education can be a path to a better life, yet it’s often out of reach. That’s why they work to remove these barriers by supporting schools in under-resourced areas, giving girls the chance to grow and learn without limitations.
With the public’s support, they can continue to transform schools and communities, helping girls gain the knowledge, confidence, and hope they need for a successful future. Together, the organization is creating a world where girls can thrive, no matter their circumstances.
Lemonade with Ice’s ice skating event does more than bring families together for a day of fun; it raises critical awareness for girls’ education. By choosing a community-centered event, the organization draws a diverse audience, spreading the message of education’s importance and engaging the community in meaningful support. Funds raised from the event go directly toward educational programs and resources for girls through Lemonade with Ice’s six global partners, providing scholarships, school supplies, and essential resources that give girls the educational opportunities they need.
The choice of ice skating sets this event apart from typical fundraising galas, creating a family-friendly atmosphere that invites people of all ages to join. As a unique, seasonal activity, it also garners local media attention, which helps amplify awareness for girls’ education. Ice skating itself represents resilience and strength qualities that mirror the courage needed to pursue an education despite obstacles.
For the founder, a Village School student, supporting girls’ education is deeply personal. Recognizing her own privilege, she wanted to help others access the same opportunities. This led her to transform Lemonade with Ice into a nonprofit dedicated to empowering young girls globally through education. “Education changes lives,” Said freshman Ice Venkatesh, founder of the Lemonade with Ice Foundation “and we want to make that difference for as many girls as possible.” With the ice-skating gala, Lemonade with Ice offers both a fun, engaging event and a powerful call to action. Attendees, sponsors, and volunteers alike are invited to join, donate, and support a cause that has a lasting impact on the lives of young girls worldwide.
