On November 2nd, 2024, The Village School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter participated in the Area 5 Fall Workshop. FBLA is an international student organization that prepares members for future careers in business. FBLA provides activities, including participation in competitions where members can take a test or conduct a presentation surrounding a given prompt to compete. This academic team is entering their second year at The Village School after having a successful first year where they sent 2 members to nationals after the state competition in Galveston where over 10 members competed for the very first time!
The Area 5 Fall Workshop was held at Seven Lakes High School and students from over 10 different schools attended. The Village School had 16 members attend. The day started off with breakfast and mingling in the cafeteria where students got situated with their school’s chapter. After that, everyone shuffled into the performing arts center where the Area 5 president and vice president spoke about the accomplishments of their area! After that concluded, the guest speaker, Vineeth Thota spoke on the importance and lessons of being an FBLA member.
Once the speakers concluded, every member went to their assigned workshop; whether it was academic challenges, seminars, or competitions, every student across all 10 schools was interacting and truly embodying the purpose of FBLA! The Village School’s members attended workshops such as “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” “Accounting 101” and more!
“I truly hope that the future of FBLA is filled with great experiences and opportunities the same way as this year has been going. I also hope that with more and more time more students become more aware of the club and dedicate their time to being a member as well.” Said senior and FBLA secretary, Agnes Pereira.
Moving forward, FBLA has a lot of exciting things in store for next semesterincluding the state competition. Make sure to follow their Instagram (@thevillagefbla) to stay updated on all the amazing things these future business leaders are doing!
