In more recent times, a coffee shop’s worth is defined by more than just its coffee; It is judged by its ambiance, quality of items, and convenience as well! Fifth Vessel Coffee Co., opened by the family of The Village School’s Chiara Jones of the math department, is located at 104 Main St, a comfortable section of downtown. Open 7 AM to 7 PM Monday to Friday, and 9 AM to 6 PM on Saturday, this place is great for a daytime hangout or study session!
Fifth Vessel is always bustling with people, especially as it neighbors a University of Houston building. There is decent parking, but you may have to pay and/or cross a street to get to and from your car if you choose to drive.
Concerning the inside of Fifth Vessel, the atmosphere is warm and cozy with much art and decor placed in great quantity, adding to the charm of the shop. Although there is not a lot of seating, it is still a great place to study or hang out as there is both individual seating and a couple of larger tables, both indoor and outdoor.
In my visits, the chai with a shot of espresso (also known as a dirty chai) has been a drink that is consistently satisfying my coffee cravings. Understanding that this isn’t a typical drink of choice when going for coffee, I found it to be desirably rich and flavorful with a strong taste and aroma of cinnamon with the perfect level of sweetness. Served hot or iced, I highly recommend the dirty chai!
Asides from this beverage, there are of course a plethora of other options that may suit you better! Even if you aren’t looking for something to sip, they also have a great assortment of bites. It is important to mention that patisserie items will quickly exhaust, so be sure to come earlier if you want a better range of choices! Alternatively, their menu also provides many options that’ll be served fresh and steamy! Its menu has a great spread of choices, amounting to what would usually be considered as among the larger selections of the coffee shops in the greater Houston area.
Overall, Fifth Vessel Coffee Co. is an 8 out of 10 for its wide variety, wonderful vibes, and good quality of food and beverage. I highly recommend this to any coffee connoisseurs looking for a nice drink and atmosphere; It is to be noted that this location is a considerable distance from The Village School which may make it a difficult trek for students, but it’s a great experience, especially granting the fact that it has its own fascinating connection to the school.
