On Thursday, August 4, 2022, Amazon Prime released the first three episodes of their new docu-series, “All Or Nothing: Arsenal.” In this show, the viewer is given a behind-the-scenes look at the 2021-2022 season of the English football club Arsenal FC. Throughout the season, Prime Video was given special access to the Arsenal locker rooms, training sessions, and staff meetings. The series features in-depth interviews with the club’s star players and coaches as well as the major turning points and controversies throughout the season.

At the beginning of the season, Arsenal faced a string of consecutive losses leaving them at the bottom of the premier league table, one of the worst starts in the club’s history. Despite heavy resistance from the media and fans, as well as Arsenal having the youngest squad in the premier league, manager Mikel Arteta courageously led the club through struggle and success. Throughout the season, Arteta and his men have one goal: they are aiming for a top-four position in the league, which would guarantee them a spot in the Champions League, a tournament for the top clubs in Europe. On their journey to the Champions League, Arsenal faces many challenges, such as Covid-19, major injuries and a falling out with the club captain and star player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The docu-series is beautifully filmed. Wide shots showing the entire locker room helped to convey the emotion of the entire team during half-time breaks, and close-up shots of players’ faces set the tone for how each individual player was feeling. Additionally, the use of close-up shots during training and player interactions allows viewers to feel as though they were actually with the team every step of the season, and feel the atmosphere in the club.

The series has many ups and downs and constantly kept me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed the series and would rate it a solid 10/10. The story of Arsenal’s 2021-2022 season narrated by award-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya, reignites the love for soccer and is a must-watch for passionate soccer fans regardless of whether or not they support Arsenal FC.
