On Monday, March 21, 2022, Vikings looked forward to a special event at the end of their day after attending classes all morning. It was finally time for the first House meetings of the spring season! House meetings give all students a chance to participate in fun activities and to get to know other Vikings in their house. Houses were assigned to students their first year in high school, and each year, they welcome more Vikings into their growing family. Houses have a mixture of school spirit and competition because house leaders always find an activity that can be enjoyed by all students and shared with others as a symbol of Village’s unmatched school spirit while houses compete against each other in team activities. In House Meetings, students also have the option to spend their time getting to know other Vikings in other grades and ask them about their interests. It’s a great way for Vikings to make long-lasting friendships.

On Monday, the activities included a tug-of-war, a lip-sync battle, a color run, painting, a boat race, a belly flop contest, and a water balloon fight.

“After Skald won the tug-of-war, the leader of Valhalla had to get a bucket of ice poured on his head,” said senior Lilie-Rose Gilbert. “It was also so cool to see all of the Valkyrie students covered in so many bright, cool colors from the color run.”
