Pep-Rallies Make a Comeback!

The VHS football team parading their way into the VAC!

On Friday, October 3, The Village School led its first pep rally in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students were directed to class sections and advised to cheer for their classmates. The event started by honoring our debate team, alongside all 2021 fall athletes. The Vikings football team was the last to speak, finishing off the segment with their loud cheers before the big Homecoming game. Following our fall athletes, there were informational announcements from Student Government before the fun began. Students across all grade levels participated in a game of “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Cup” , where the goal is to grab a plastic cup before your competitor. Each grade went head-to-head, with juniors taking the victory. Senior Hype House President, Lilie-Rose Gilbert led these games.

“It feels amazing to finally be able to do these types of things,” said Gilbert. “It’s been so long, it almost feels surreal.”

Pep rallies have always been a way for students to get involved and to encourage school spirit. It is amazing to see a years-long tradition return, and to see the school’s spirit grow once again. The event ended with a lively performance from the Elite Spirit Dance Team, sending the student body off to the Homecoming game pepped up. Overall, The Village Vikings first pep rally back was filled with lots of fun and school spirit, and the Vikings are ready for the next one!
