On Saturday, January 25, 2020, The Village School’s Residential-Life Activities took a new approach to the meaning of fun and relaxation: Cat Cafe, a themed coffee cafe whose attraction is to observe and play with cats. Customers pay the right to enter, which is usually for hours (drinks and beverages are still charged).

The venue was El Gato Coffeehouse,  the first and only Cat Cafe in Houston! There were more activities offered other than just having fun with cats. The roster of events goes all the way from yoga with cats to painting and even learning to craft cat toys.

“The staff is very nice and friendly, they have a lot of cats of all sizes and personalities,” said sophomore Alina Mukhlisova, one of the students that attended the event. “I loved that they had information about each cat to know them better in case you were willing to adopt. If there is something I can recommend is the quality of the coffee, but, let’s be honest, nobody goes for coffee…”
